>> ^poolcleaner: If you drop it from the precise point it was dropped from in this video and observe again, will it be random? What other conditions would factor into its perceived random movement? (These aren't rhetorical questions. I'm curious.)
It is indeed chaotic motion -- if you attempt to recreate the exact same conditions of movement you will get different results. The reason is that there are many "balance points" where the motion could go either one way or the other, and there is no way to predict which way it will move. Sort of like balancing a ball exactly at the top of a curve -- you know it will fall one way or the other, but you can't predict which.
I know this has likely been discussed at length, but if we dupeof something, I think the more popular video should be the one who gets the title tags and description kept. Leave the star point to the original submitter, but it seems to me that if someone figured out a much better way to name/tag something, thats how it should be named/tagged.
Also, does dupeof merge comments?
The original submitter needs to keep the post — imagine all of the dupes that would be submitted intentionally if that weren't the case. After dupeof, the original can have its title changed to this one if Fusionaut wants it.
Unfortunately dupeof doesn't merge comments. That would make a lot of sense, and seems like a missing feature to me.
I'll dupeof this once it's had its run in the Top 15.
